Fields

• subject MUST be of type phone_number and identifies the telephone number being claimed and backed.
• amount MUST be positive. Its magnitude represents the cost committed to the claim.

Purpose

Publicly claiming and backing a telephone number with a Chronicle pubkey.

This connects the number to a persistent actor who puts their Chronicle reputation behind the claim.

Interpretation

Multiple pubkeys may emit phone:verify for the same number. This kind does not resolve competing claims on its own.

Clients may interpret competing claims by weighing both the credibility of the specific phone:verify events and the credibility of the pubkeys that signed them.
